What is PREPARED?

Funded by the EPA and led by Palmetto Futures, PREPARED — Promoting Readiness and Enhancing Proficiency to Advance Reporting and Data in the Gullah Geechee Corridor— provides essential training and resources to community-based organizations within the Gullah Geechee corridor.

Our goal is to equip these organizations with the skills needed for successful EPA grant applications, impactful project design, and effective project management.

We are committed to championing environmental justice for Gullah Geechee communities.

Many Gullah Geechee communities are disproportionately located near polluting industries and hazardous waste sites.

It has been difficult for Gullah Geechee communities to advocate for their environmental rights, largely because they have often lacked access to necessary environmental data, resources, and information.

Data from EJScreen (2023) indicates health disparities and poor air and water quality for many residents in Gullah Geechee communities.

Grant Funding

PREPARED empowers community-based organizations within the Gullah Geechee corridor by providing essential training for successful EPA grant applications and grant execution. Our initiative provides the foundation for organizations to secure the funding needed to launch impactful projects and foster sustainable environmental progress in their communities.

Through PREPARED, we aim to foster strong community collaboration, uniting local organizations to share resources, knowledge, and support. Specialized Workshops

PREPARED offers specialized workshops to equip communities with the skills required for effective project design, management, and evaluation. Our comprehensive programs ensure participants are well-prepared to lead successful environmental initiatives and navigate the federal reporting complexities of grant-funded projects.

Long-Term Sustainability

Our goal is long-term sustainability. By providing essential resources and training, we help community organizations within the Gullah Geechee corridor build capacity for enduring environmental stewardship, ensuring lasting impacts and a healthier future for generations to come.
